Hi!! I’m Meredith Gomez, owner of Helen Joy Home—an accidental contractor, remodeler, and designer.

At the age of 21, I purchased my first home—the one I was sure I’d live in forever (almost funny to think about now). What started as taking down a single wall to open up the kitchen quickly turned into removing ceilings, reworking the entire layout, and adding square footage for a larger primary suite. That experience shaped everything—and from there, Helen Joy Home was born.

I see potential in every house and believe each one can become someone’s perfect home. As a licensed general contractor who also designs, I bring both vision and execution to every project. To me, what’s behind the walls is just as important as what hangs on them.

From the placement of light switches to the swing of a door, every detail matters. Thoughtful design isn’t just about how a space looks—it’s about how it lives, functions, and feels every day.

  • While I’ve loved building and remodeling homes, the most important role I have is being a mom. I have two boys—Javi (5) and Asher (3)—who have completely reshaped my day-to-day life.

    There wasn’t a single moment where I decided to step back from client work—it happened gradually. And while I’m incredibly grateful for the time I get with them, I’d be lying if I said there hasn’t been some grief in letting go of a business I truly loved. I miss the challenge, the creativity, and the sense of accomplishment—among a hundred other things.

    These days, I’m no longer taking on client projects, but we continue to renovate our own properties. That shift led me to reimagine what Helen Joy Home could look like in this season—finding a way to stay connected to the work I love while being present at home.

    Now, I share the products, materials, and ideas I use in both my own home and our renovation projects. Not as an “influencer,” but simply as someone who has always loved finding things that work—products that are well-designed, affordable, and solve real problems in a home.

    Helen Joy Home continues to evolve, but the heart behind it remains the same—creating spaces that feel like home, in every sense of the word.

  • Helen Joy Home is named after my two grandmothers—Helen and Joy. Two women who couldn’t have been more different in personality and style, yet shared the same deep love for family and unwavering support in my life.

    Family has always been my foundation, and that carries into everything I build through this business. Helen and Joy raised me to believe that a home is more than just a place—it’s a reflection of who you are, where your people gather, and where life’s most meaningful memories are made.
